Bowl Crazy! College Football Championships Are Set!

For the first time since 1987, the Michigan State Spartans are headed to the Rose Bowl. In a surprising upset, MSU beat undefeated Ohio State University 34-24 in the Big Ten Conference Championship game, ruining the Buckeyes’ chances of making an appearance in the highly coveted BCS National Championship game. Instead, they will settle for an Orange Bowl appearance pitted against the Clemson Tigers.

Alabama also watched its three-peat National Championship opportunity be whisked away when Auburn dealt the Tide their first loss with an unbelievable 108-yard, game winning, missed field goal return with one second remaining against Auburn. The Crimson Tide will settle for a Sugar Bowl appearance against the Oklahoma Sooners, who will be happy to hand Nick Saban his second loss of the season in New Orleans on January 2, 2014.

Auburn’s ridiculous win – which was displayed in every media outlet possible for an entire week, as it was certainly worthy of enjoying – against Alabama, led them directly into the National Championship game to play the Florida State Seminoles on January 6, 2014. (Truth be told, OSU's loss certainly gave them the green light.) This year’s site is at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, which is one of the best places to catch a college football game (or a concert), so it will be just as much fun for the fans as it will the players.

Good luck to all involved! The New Year is going to start with a college football bang, to be certain!
